Kansas City, get ready to welcome Barbie and the thrill of Mattel’s iconic brands as the toy giant unveils plans for its second Adventure Park set to open its doors in 2026.
Mattel is set to bring its cherished portfolio of brands to life in a whole new dimension at a resort destination, with groundbreaking slated for later this year in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Situated approximately 22 miles from downtown Kansas City, MO, this marks the second installment of its kind, following the previously announced debut of the first Mattel Adventure Park scheduled to launch in Arizona in 2024.
Of notable allure, guests will be transported into the enchanting world of Barbie while also immersing themselves in the adrenaline-fueled universe of Hot Wheels, alongside other beloved brands such as Pictionary and UNO.
Mirroring attractions from its Arizona counterpart, the theme park will feature two exhilarating Hot Wheels roller coasters—the double-looping Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer and the skull-adorned Hot Wheels Bone Shaker—promising an electrifying experience for visitors.
Adding to the anticipation, a “larger-than-life” Barbie Beach House will stand as a centerpiece of the new resort, beckoning guests to explore the realm of the iconic doll. Within its confines, park-goers will discover a Barbie-themed flying theater, an interactive retail and merchandise outlet, and The Barbie Rooftop restaurant and bar, where hologram technology will animate Barbie right before guests’ eyes.
The park pledges “full-throttle fun” for racing enthusiasts of all ages, alongside family-friendly, experiential-based rides and attractions inspired by other beloved Mattel brands, including Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor. Visitors can also look forward to a Magic 8 Ball-inspired 18-hole mini golf experience and a custom climb UNO structure designed to evoke nostalgia and adventure.
For the youngest attendees, a dedicated space featuring indoor playscapes will ensure endless entertainment.
Further enhancing the park’s offerings, guests can engage in He-Man vs. Skeletor Laser Tag within a “massive laser tag arena” reminiscent of the iconic Castle Grayskull fortress from Masters of the Universe.
Commenting on the venture, Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel, expressed excitement, stating, “Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will bring our iconic brands to life with epic roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, an immersive theatre, themed dining, and so much more. We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones.”
Mark Cornell, President of Epic Resort Destinations, echoed Silverman’s sentiments, emphasizing the incorporation of state-of-the-art technology and engaging experiences to bring Mattel’s powerhouse brands to life.
Additional details and a sneak peek of Mattel Adventure Park are anticipated in the future, as the project unfolds through a licensing partnership between Mattel, Inc. and Epic Resort Destinations.
