United Airlines is gearing up for an extensive foray into Canada this summer, with a robust offering of seasonal routes to national parks and outdoor destinations. The airline’s strategic move aims to cater to the growing interest in adventure travel.
Commencing in May, United Airlines will reintroduce popular seasonal routes to Canada from its major domestic hubs. Travel enthusiasts can anticipate the resumption of United’s flights connecting Chicago O’Hare with Quebec City and Winnipeg; Denver with Winnipeg; Newark with Halifax; and Washington, D.C., with Vancouver. These routes are scheduled to operate throughout the summer of 2024.
Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Alliances, highlighted the airline’s commitment to facilitating outdoor exploration. Quayle stated, “We know people want to get outdoors this summer, and United is making it easier than ever to get to fun destinations across North America.” He further emphasized the airline’s dedication to offering customers a variety of options, from non-stop services to destinations previously accessible only through multiple connections, to leveraging partnerships with airlines like Air Canada.
United Airlines witnessed a surge in interest for Canada flights in 2022 following a significant partnership expansion with Air Canada. The codeshare agreement, initiated last year, led to over 260 daily flights between the U.S. and Canada. As United solidifies its position as the largest domestic carrier serving Canada, the upcoming summer 2024 season is set to feature 100 new flights between the two countries.
This announcement closely follows United’s recent filing of a new route between its Washington-Dulles hub and Anchorage, Alaska, slated to commence in May, further bolstering its network of adventure travel destinations. The airline plans to deploy larger aircraft on popular domestic and transborder routes to accommodate increased demand.
Beyond the aforementioned routes, travelers can also look forward to exciting summer destinations such as Bozeman, Mont.; Kalispell, Mont.; and Jackson Hole, Wyo. The flights are available for booking through United’s website or mobile app, providing passengers with ample opportunities to explore adventure travel options.
