Icelandic low-cost carrier, Play, is set to conclude the year on a high note by slashing 50% off its already economical airfares to Europe.
The promotional sale, valid for bookings until midnight ET on December 23rd, opens up travel opportunities in 2024 from January to May and from September to October. Travelers can avail of this offer for flights spanning across Europe from Play’s primary gateways in the United States: Baltimore, Boston, Washington D.C., and New York Stewart International Airport.
Birgir Jónsson, Play’s CEO, expressed, “As we anticipate the upcoming year, PLAY is presenting an exceptional chance for travelers to seize the moment and plan an affordable vacation to Europe’s most iconic destinations. With our final discount of the year, adventurers can book their next escapade and mark destinations off their travel bucket list for 2024.”
The reduced fares facilitate journeys to Iceland, London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Dublin, Stockholm, Frankfurt, or Hamburg.
Inclusive in the ticket prices are all taxes, fees, and carrier charges, although additional amenities such as baggage are not covered.
Play operates on a “hub-and-spoke” model, necessitating all flights to pass through Reykjavik before reaching other destinations or returning to the U.S. The airline adopts a low-cost structure, charging for various services including checked baggage and in-flight sustenance. For flights without baggage allowances, passengers are charged $67 for a carry-on bag with priority boarding, while a small checked bag weighing up to 44 pounds incurs a fee of $78.
Moreover, the airline charges for onboard amenities such as water, and provides an array of snacks comprising Icelandic chocolate and sandwiches for purchase.
