Where is Wayanad?

Wayanad, located south of the Deccan Plateau, is a district in Kerala. It is home to Asia’s second largest earth dam, the Banasura Sagar Dam. Wayanad is surrounded by wildlife sanctuaries such as Muthanga and Tholpetty, which have lush green forests and diverse wildlife.

By air: From Kalpetta and Wayanad, the nearest airports are at Kozhikode, known as Karipur International Airport, 75 km and 100 km away, respectively.

Eddakal Caves

The 1000-metre high Edakkal Caves are located at Ambukuthi Mala, not far from Ambalavayal and 12 km from Sulthan Bathery. The recent Stone Age artworks on the walls of these common caves at Edakkal are evidence of the earlier civic institutions that existed in the areas.

Soochipara Waterfalls

This waterfall, which can be found in Vellarimala, also has three layers. The Sentinel Rock Waterfall, as it is also known, is located in the middle of a lush green forest.
