Budget hotel chain Travelodge has added 11 more properties to its UK portfolio, further strengthening its presence across the country.
The company, which already operates 588 hotels in the UK, has taken over nine former Hotel Campanile locations in key cities, including:
- Birmingham
- Bradford
- Leicester
- Manchester
- Northampton
- Milton Keynes
Additionally, Travelodge has secured a 25-year lease for a former Ibis hotel in Bromsgrove, set to reopen in May after renovations. Another property in Wakefield, previously the independent CitiLodge hotel, will join Travelodge’s portfolio in August following conversion.
The expansion follows the recent rebranding of a former Ibis hotel in Bromley, which reopened as a Travelodge in March.
Growth Strategy
Steve Bennett, Travelodge’s Chief Property and Development Officer, said: “There are still many locations across the UK and Spain where we can open new Travelodge hotels, offering affordable, quality accommodation.”
He added: “Acquiring and rebranding existing properties is a key part of our growth strategy. We aim to open over 300 more hotels in the UK and are actively seeking prime opportunities.”
The latest acquisitions highlight Travelodge’s aggressive expansion plans in the budget hospitality sector.
