Icelandair has officially launched flights between Reykjavik, Iceland, and Nashville, Tennessee, marking the airline’s 18th destination in North America.
The first flight to Nashville, often called “Music City,” took place on Friday, April 11. Icelandair will operate the route four times a week, with flights scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, through the end of October.
The airline is flying Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which offer both Saga Premium and economy class seats.
Icelandair has also expanded its interline agreement with Southwest Airlines, which is the largest carrier at Nashville International Airport. Southwest Airlines serves around 90 destinations across North America.
Tomas Ingason, Icelandair’s chief commercial officer, said, “This new route connects Music City to Iceland, and from there, passengers can reach nearly 40 destinations across Europe.”
He also highlighted the expanded partnership with Southwest Airlines, which will allow travelers to easily connect between Southwest and Icelandair flights via Nashville and Denver. This partnership also includes a new gateway in Baltimore.
