Jetstar has introduced its ‘Fly a Friend for Free’ Holiday Packages Sale, offering travel packages starting at $416 for two people. However, travelers must first decide on the right companion before booking.
A recent survey conducted by Jetstar highlights the significance of selecting the ideal travel buddy. The study, which involved over 1,000 Jetstar customers, found that nearly one in four respondents (24%) had ended a friendship after traveling together. The survey also revealed the key qualities travelers seek in a companion and the biggest red flags to watch for.
One of the major concerns among travelers is managing costs. According to the survey, 76% of respondents avoid traveling with someone who does not pay their fair share or fails to reimburse expenses. Additionally, 74% prefer to split travel costs evenly instead of taking turns paying.
Accommodation choices also play a role in budget-conscious travel. More than three-quarters (77%) of respondents stated they are willing to share a hotel room with their travel companion to reduce costs. This trend is more prominent among younger travelers, with 91% of those aged 18–34 open to the idea, compared to 65% of those aged 65 and older.
When selecting the ideal travel partner, respondents ranked shared interests as the most important factor (78%). The ability to spend extended periods together without frustration ranked second (71%). Other essential traits include having a similar travel budget (58%) and being a good communicator (42%).
