Scenic Group has announced the promotion of two key executives, Katherine O’Neill and Angus Crichton, as they take on expanded roles within the company’s marketing and product teams.
The Scenic and Emerald Cruises portfolio, known for its luxury brands, continues to grow significantly, with plans for further expansion into 2025 and beyond. This includes the introduction of the new superyacht, Emerald Kaia, and the Emerald Astra Star-Ship, set to operate on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers in 2026.
Anthony Laver, General Manager of Sales and Marketing APAC at Scenic Group, expressed enthusiasm about the promotions, stating, “We are excited to expand the roles of Katherine O’Neill and Angus Crichton to support Scenic Group’s growth.”
Laver added that both O’Neill and Crichton have played crucial roles in the company’s growth over the past five years. They have worked closely with Emma Davie, Rob Kalemba, and Nathan Ting within the sales and marketing team, while also collaborating with other key departments like operations, reservations, IT, and customer care. In her new role, O’Neill will focus on developing the brand and core marketing content for both Scenic and Emerald Cruises’ luxury river cruises and super yachts.
O’Neill has been promoted to Director of Scenic Group Global Marketing and Branded Content. With extensive experience in luxury travel, spanning hotels, resorts, airlines, and tourism bodies, she has made significant contributions to the development of Scenic’s global brand and marketing in Australia and New Zealand over the last five years. In her expanded role, O’Neill will work alongside Crichton to manage the brand development and content for Emerald Cruises, collaborating with Scenic Group’s marketing teams worldwide.
Crichton’s role has been expanded to Director of Emerald Cruises AU/NZ Sales, Marketing, and Scenic Group Land Product. With 27 years at Scenic Group, beginning with Australian Scenic coach tours and Evergreen Tours, Crichton brings vast experience in sales, marketing, and product development. He has played an instrumental role in the growth of Emerald Cruises and Tours following the brand’s rebranding in Australia and New Zealand. In his new capacity, Crichton will oversee Scenic Group’s Land Product team, working on developing Scenic and Emerald Tours’ luxury land journey offerings. These will include small group escorted tours across destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Egypt, Europe, and the Americas.
Laver also emphasized the importance of Crichton’s expanded role, saying, “The development of Scenic and Emerald Tours’ land products highlights the growing demand for seamless land and cruising experiences. The integration of our small group escorted tours with cruising itineraries is essential to providing the exceptional, seamless travel experiences our valued guests expect.”
