Lufthansa Group has moved ITA Airlines into its terminals at Germany’s Frankfurt and Munich airports as part of the ongoing integration of the Italian airline.
Starting from March 30, with the launch of the summer flight schedule, all airlines within the Lufthansa Group, including ITA, will operate from the same terminals at their German hubs.
This change follows Lufthansa’s acquisition of a 41 percent minority stake in ITA earlier this year. As a result, ITA has shifted its operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport, now using gates A and B. This relocation offers passengers shorter connection times thanks to the reduced walking distance between gates.
At Munich Airport, ITA has also moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, and its satellite terminal, which is jointly operated by Lufthansa and the airport.
In addition to these changes, all Lufthansa Group airlines, including ITA, already share terminals at Brussels, Rome, Vienna, and Zurich airports. Passengers flying with ITA and Lufthansa Group can now also enjoy access to shared lounges at various airports worldwide.
Lufthansa Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dieter Vranckx, said, “This move is a key step in ITA Airlines’ integration into the Lufthansa Group. The shorter distances between gates will allow customers to connect faster and enjoy more comfort during their travels.”
He also highlighted the benefits of shared lounge access, stating that ITA passengers can now take advantage of the extensive services offered by the Lufthansa Group, which includes access to premium airlines and a global network of routes.
In another development, ITA and Lufthansa Group airlines launched joint codeshare flights with the start of the summer schedule, covering over 100 routes.
