Turkish Tourists Flood Greek Islands for Seker Bayram, Breaking Visitor Records

by gongshang06

Turkish tourists have brought a major economic boost to the Greek islands of Lesvos and Chios during the Seker Bayram holiday weekend. More than 5,000 visitors traveled from Turkey, setting new records and providing a strong start to the summer tourism season.

On Saturday alone, around 1,000 tourists arrived in Lesvos from the Turkish coastal town of Ayvalik. Even more were expected on Sunday. The surge in visitors is great news for local businesses, which rely heavily on tourism for income.

The rise in Turkish tourists comes after Greece extended its fast-track visa program for Aegean islands. The easier travel rules have made it more convenient for Turkish travelers to visit. Many come for short vacations, enjoying the islands’ culture and scenery.

Despite economic and political challenges in Turkey, the number of visitors to Lesvos and Chios remains strong. Last year, a record 122,000 Turkish tourists visited the islands. Officials hope this year’s numbers will match or even surpass that success.
