StarCruises Launches Themed Weekend Voyages from Keelung This Summer

by Alice

StarCruises has introduced a new 3-day, 2-night weekend cruise program aboard the Star Navigator, setting sail from Keelung. The cruises, called “Global Celebrations at Sea,” will run this summer and feature a rotating cultural and culinary focus. These High Seas voyages offer a variety of onboard activities, without any port stops.

The cruises are designed to attract regional travelers looking for short leisure breaks, particularly those interested in cultural and food experiences. Each sailing will spotlight a different country or cultural theme. The first voyages will explore Japan in April, followed by Korea in May.

The Japan-themed cruises, scheduled for April 4 and 18, will feature authentic Japanese cuisine such as sushi, tempura, and ramen. Guests will also enjoy Sakura-inspired dance performances and cultural workshops like Ikebana flower arranging, origami, and traditional tea ceremonies.

In May, cruises on the 2nd, 16th, and 30th will focus on Korean culture. The onboard activities will include Korean dishes such as Bulgogi and Bibimbap, live drum performances, K-pop dance sessions, and the chance to try on hanbok, the traditional Korean dress. The program aims to mix traditional and modern Korean elements in an easily accessible way.

One of the highlights of each weekend cruise will be the Saturday night open-air BBQ, where guests can enjoy grilled dishes inspired by the week’s theme. The BBQs are intended to be casual, social events on deck, offering guests the opportunity to savor delicious food while enjoying the sea views.

Michael Goh, President of StarCruises, shared that the High Seas cruise concept was created to offer a variety of cultural experiences without the complexities of land-based travel. This flexible model allows for short lead times in bookings and meets the growing demand for short-haul leisure experiences in Asia.

StarCruises is targeting both local and regional markets, particularly travelers looking for culturally rich, short weekend breaks. The cruises are set to depart and return on a consistent schedule from Keelung, making them a convenient option for a weekend getaway.
