Qantas officially launched its first flight from Darwin to Singapore on Sunday, 30 March. The airline also introduced an international sale offering return fares starting at $519.

The new service operates four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The flight, which lasts 4 hours and 50 minutes, is scheduled to connect with Qantas’ A380 services between Singapore and London, as well as other destinations in Europe and Asia through partner airlines. This makes the Darwin-Singapore route the quickest one-stop option for travelers from the Northern Territory heading to Europe.

This new service is part of Qantas Group’s broader plan to expand in the Northern Territory, which will see an additional 180,000 seats available for travel to and from the region this year. The direct flight will also save international travelers time by removing the need to transit through other Australian cities before reaching Darwin.

Qantas CEO International, Cam Wallace, stated that the new flights would provide a faster, more seamless travel option for both local residents and international visitors traveling to Asia and Europe.

“The new flights will offer more travel choices for locals and tourists and will strengthen the important business and trade ties between Australia and Singapore,” Wallace said.

Rob Porter, Executive General Manager at Airport Development Group, called the launch a significant milestone for the Northern Territory. He emphasized the importance of the new route in boosting business, tourism, and trade in the region.

“This new route highlights the Territory’s growing role as a gateway to the region. It opens up new opportunities for business, tourism, and trade. We are committed to working with our airline partners to continue expanding travel options and benefiting our community,” Porter said.

The flight launch also coincides with Qantas’ latest international sale, offering discounted return fares from Darwin to Singapore starting at $519 in Economy. The sale runs until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

Qantas fares include checked baggage, meals, beverages, and entertainment. Tickets are available on Qantas.com or through travel agents. Frequent Flyers can also use their Qantas Points to book Classic or Classic Plus seats.
