Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) has named Craig Davidson as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Davidson is a well-known figure in the Australian tourism industry, with a career spanning 35 years. He has worked across various sectors, including hotels, resorts, attractions, and nature-based experiences. His previous roles include positions at Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation, Hamilton Island, Voyages Hotels and Resorts, Ardent Leisure Theme Parks, and Journey Beyond.
Davidson also led Tourism Australia’s Investment Attraction, Aviation Development, and Industry Development team, focusing on Indigenous tourism products. Additionally, he has held several board roles, including a six-year tenure as a director at Destination Gold Coast.
Tourism Minister Andrew Powell praised the appointment, calling it a great choice for Queensland. Powell believes Davidson is well-equipped to help realize the Crisafulli Government’s 20-year vision for the state’s tourism industry.
TEQ Chair Grant Hunt emphasized Davidson’s extensive knowledge of both local and national tourism. Hunt noted that Davidson, a proud Queenslander, is deeply committed to the success of the tourism industry in his home state.
“Craig’s expertise in tourism is unparalleled, and he is a proven leader and collaborator. He will play a key role in guiding the industry as Queensland prepares for Brisbane 2032,” said Hunt.
