Kings Dominion, a popular theme park in Virginia, is marking its 50th anniversary this year with the launch of Rapterra, the world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster.
Set to open on March 29, Rapterra stands at 145 feet tall and stretches over 3,000 feet in length. The coaster is capable of launching riders from 0 to 65 miles per hour in just four seconds. Riders will experience a variety of thrilling elements, including a dive loop, an S-turn, a wing slide, a flat spin, and a 360-degree raptor roll.
The park will remain open through April 6 for spring break. Season passholders will have the chance to be the first to ride Rapterra during a special preview night on March 25. Silver Season Passholders this year will enjoy unlimited rides on the new coaster.
Bridgette Bywater, vice president and general manager of Kings Dominion, said, “Rapterra is the perfect centerpiece for our 50th anniversary celebration and promises to offer exciting new thrills for a new generation of visitors.”
Bywater added, “With cutting-edge attractions, family-friendly experiences, and immersive fun, Kings Dominion has been the premier Virginia destination for 50 years. We continue that tradition with the debut of Rapterra.”
