Kuramathi Maldives has named Bertrand Margerie as its new General Manager. With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Margerie brings a wealth of knowledge from working with globally recognized brands across four continents. His expertise in rooms and revenue management makes him an ideal fit to lead the resort to even greater success.

When asked what makes Kuramathi Maldives stand out, Margerie emphasized the resort’s unique appeal. “This place is truly special,” he explained. “I love the relaxed, natural atmosphere, the commitment of our team, and the genuine care they show to our guests. Originally from France, Margerie holds a diploma in tourism management from Ecole Nationale de Commerce and a Financial Management Certificate from Cornell University. He began his career in hospitality in 1987 with IHG at Le Grand InterContinental in Paris. Starting in front-of-house operations, he gradually worked his way up through dedication and passion.
“At 19, I applied for a job at Le Grand InterContinental, and from that moment, I was hooked on the hospitality industry,” Margerie recalled. “I learned everything from the ground up, and my passion for the field only grew. In this industry, passion and a great team are essential for success. I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible leaders and teams throughout my career.”
Margerie’s extensive career includes leadership roles such as Hotel Manager at Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort, Group General Manager at Chaweng Regent Beach Resort and Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Samui, and Resident Manager at Mövenpick Karon Beach, Phuket. His dynamic leadership and business expertise ensure an exceptional guest experience.
In his free time, Margerie looks forward to experiencing the Maldivian way of life. He plans to explore the local culture, cuisine, underwater life, and connect with the local community, fully embracing everything the Maldives has to offer.
