Heritage Expeditions, a small-ship cruise line known for its unique expedition journeys, has unveiled a new “Cherry Blossoms of Japan Cruise,” following strong demand from travelers.
Aaron Russ, the company’s commercial director and expedition leader, explained that the new cruise was created in response to guests’ growing interest in experiencing Japan’s renowned cherry blossom season and the traditional Hanami celebrations.
“Japan is famous for its cherry blossoms and the incredible festivals that take place during the Sakura Season. Our guests were eager to be part of this celebration, and we wanted to make it possible for them,” said Russ.
The 12-day cruise, which runs from Tokyo to Osaka, will explore the islands of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. The journey includes a cruise across the Seto Inland Sea and a visit to Busan in South Korea. Along the way, travelers will join in Japan’s cherry blossom festivities.
“We will visit famous spots in Japan as well as hidden coastal gems that can only be reached by expedition ship. Highlights include Naoshima Island, known for its art, Hiroshima, the iconic floating Torii Gate at Miyajima, Mount Fuji, and more— all surrounded by the beauty of the cherry blossoms,” added Russ. “It’s truly a magical time to explore Japan.”
Additionally, Heritage Expeditions has announced a new Kimberley Explorer voyage for 2026, responding to rising interest.
“This is only our third season exploring the Kimberley, but the response has been incredible. More travelers are discovering the unique experience Heritage Expeditions offers, and we are excited to share these adventures with them,” Russ said.
