MSC Cruises Boosts Spain Operations: 493 Port Calls, New Barcelona Terminal & More in 2025

by gongshang06

MSC Cruises is ramping up its presence in Spain for the 2025 summer season. The cruise line plans a 28% increase in port calls compared to 2024, totaling 493 stops across 18 Spanish destinations. Eight of these ports will serve as embarkation points, making it easier for travelers to set sail.

A major highlight is MSC Cruises’ new state-of-the-art terminal at the Port of Barcelona, set to open on April 3. Designed by renowned architecture firm Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA), the terminal will speed up boarding and disembarking. It will also allow MSC to offer more departures from Barcelona.

Fernando Pacheco, General Manager of MSC Cruises Spain, said, “Spain is a key market for us. After a strong 2024, we’re proud to be the only cruise line with eight embarkation ports here. This makes cruising more accessible to everyone.”

New routes are also on the way. MSC World Europa will launch seven-night Western Mediterranean trips from Barcelona. Meanwhile, MSC Seaview and MSC Seaside will offer Mediterranean voyages from the same port. Valencia joins as a new starting point, alongside Alicante, Las Palmas, Málaga, Mallorca, Tarragona, and Tenerife.

To improve travel convenience, MSC is adding direct flights. Passengers can fly from Málaga to Copenhagen for MSC Euribia’s Northern Europe and Norwegian Fjords trips. Direct flights from Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga to Turkey and Greece will also be available. Those sailing on MSC Lirica can enjoy a 16-hour stopover in Mykonos.

The cruise line is expanding its Stay & Cruise program. Now including Athens and Venice, the packages feature two-night hotel stays, city tours, and private transfers.

MSC is also enhancing ground transport. New high-speed train routes will connect Madrid, Zaragoza, and Andalusia to Valencia and Barcelona. A bus service from Valladolid to Valencia’s port will help inland travelers.

With buses from 17 cities to four ports and trains from six cities to seven ships, MSC is making cruise travel smoother than ever. The expansion solidifies MSC Cruises as a top choice for Spanish travelers.
