Ryanair has launched a new subscription service aimed at frequent travellers. The Dublin-based airline has named the service “Prime” and is offering an annual membership for £79 in the UK and €79 in Ireland.
Subscribers to the service will receive several benefits, including free reserved seats, travel insurance for flights, and monthly exclusive fare discounts.
This launch follows a similar move by Wizz Air, another budget airline, which introduced its own “premium” membership program earlier this year. Wizz Air’s scheme offers fare discounts and inflight privileges, along with a late-booking “All You Can Fly” option.
Dara Brady, Ryanair’s chief marketing officer, said: “Ryanair ‘Prime’ is designed for frequent flyers who want to travel regularly without spending too much.”
The new service is available to just 250,000 customers on a first-come, first-served basis. According to Brady, members who fly at least 12 times a year could save up to £420 annually, while those flying three times a year would save about £105 through their Prime membership.
