The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced a new addition to its luxury portfolio. The company has signed an agreement to manage the historic Palitana Palace in Gujarat under its iconic Taj brand.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL, expressed pride in the partnership. “For over 121 years, Taj has set the standard for luxury hospitality,” he said. “Being named the World’s Strongest Hotel Brand and India’s Strongest Brand reflects our commitment to excellence. We are honored to collaborate with His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja of Rajkot to restore and operate Palitana Palace.”
He added, “Palitana is a key spiritual destination in Gujarat. This project will not only attract heritage lovers but also strengthen the social and wedding tourism market in the region.”
After a full restoration, the 65-room Taj Palitana will combine historic charm with modern luxury. Guests can expect elegantly designed rooms and suites, along with premium facilities. These include an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty dining venue, a lounge, a gym, a swimming pool, and a spa.
The palace will also cater to weddings and events. It will feature a 3,000 sq. ft. ballroom, flexible meeting spaces, and sprawling outdoor lawns. The property will display rare royal artwork and historical artifacts, preserving its grandeur for future generations.
His Highness Thakore Saheb Mandhatasinhji Jadeja, representing Trident Developers Pvt. Ltd. and the Jadeja Royal Family, shared his enthusiasm. “Partnering with IHCL’s Taj brand is a proud moment for us,” he said. “This project will revive Palitana Palace’s glory and showcase its heritage to the world.”
Located in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, Palitana is a major spiritual and cultural destination. Known for its stunning architecture and deep historical roots, it attracts travelers from across the globe.
With this new signing, IHCL will operate 29 hotels in Gujarat, with 10 more in the pipeline. The Taj Palitana marks another milestone in IHCL’s mission to blend heritage with luxury hospitality.
