Emirates Group Goes Green: World’s Largest Solar-Powered Data Center to Fuel Future Growth

In a landmark move for sustainable technology, the Emirates Group has partnered with Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, to revolutionize its data center operations. The collaboration will see the Emirates Group migrate its digital infrastructure to the world’s largest solar-powered data center at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park by mid-2026.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), highlighted the initiative’s alignment with Dubai’s sustainability goals. “Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are advancing Dubai’s position as a global hub for clean energy and digital innovation,” he said. “This partnership with the Emirates Group reinforces our commitment to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.”

Moro Hub’s solar-powered facility, certified by Guinness World Records™, will provide the Emirates Group with co-location services, including rack space, power, cooling, and equipment. By switching to renewable energy, the Emirates Group will consume 3,000 megawatts annually from clean sources, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Michael Doersam (Emirates Group’s Chief Financial & Group Services Officer), and Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar (Vice Chairman & Group CEO of Digital DEWA).

Michael Doersam emphasized the partnership’s transformative potential. “This move strengthens our technology foundation while supporting sustainability,” he said. “By adopting clean energy, we are future-proofing our operations and contributing to Dubai’s tech-driven, eco-friendly vision.”

The partnership marks a major step in the Emirates Group’s digital transformation. It also showcases Dubai’s leadership in merging technology with sustainability, setting a global benchmark for the aviation and IT sectors.

With this collaboration, both organizations aim to drive economic growth, innovation, and environmental stewardship—solidifying Dubai’s reputation as a pioneer in green technology.
