Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 to Take Part in America’s 250th Anniversary Festivities

by Alice

The iconic Queen Mary 2 will play a starring role in America’s 250th anniversary celebrations in New York in 2026. The luxury ocean liner, operated by Cunard, has partnered with Sail4th 250, the nonprofit coordinating the historic event in the Port of New York and New Jersey.

As part of the festivities, the Queen Mary 2 will join an international flotilla featuring more than 30 tall ships and naval vessels from 17 countries. Attendees can tour the ships, enjoy a fireworks display, witness a military flyover, and view rare 18th-century historical documents on exhibit.

“Cunard has a long and proud connection with the United States, and we’re honored to be part of this historic celebration,” said Katie McAlister, president of Cunard. “As the world’s only true ocean liner, Queen Mary 2 will give guests an unforgettable experience—surrounded by the excitement and grandeur of America’s 250th Independence Day. This is a rare chance to see history unfold in an extraordinary way.”

This event marks one of the largest maritime gatherings in U.S. history, blending modern luxury with historic tradition.
