Celestyal Discovery has officially launched its 2025 season in Greece and the Mediterranean after undergoing a major refurbishment. The ship made history as the first to return to Santorini, following the lifting of temporary restrictions by Greek authorities.
The 1,360-passenger ship set sail from Athens on March 21, 2025, embarking on a three-night “Iconic Greek Islands” cruise. This voyage included a visit to Santorini on March 23.
As part of the refurbishment, 32 new suites were added to the ship, increasing its premium capacity by 52%, meeting the growing demand for these accommodations. The upgrade also included 15 additional interior Cosmos Cabins, boosting the ship’s total capacity by 7.4%.
The 32 new suites feature two new categories: 30 Junior Dream Suites, each measuring 25 square meters with balconies of up to 5.6 square meters, and two Grand Horizon Suites, each 42 square meters. These Grand Horizon Suites are located above the bridge and offer separate living areas and large 15.5-square-meter balconies with scenic views.
The ship also introduced a new dining experience with the addition of the Smoked Olive restaurant, available to suite guests. This space offers complimentary meals with a few additional a la carte options for a small fee, including roasted lamb shank and rum baba dessert. Later in the season, the ship will feature a “pop-up” Grill Seekers restaurant, offering specialty regional cuisine inspired by the destinations on the itinerary. The restaurant will also include a private dining area available for booking.
Since joining the fleet in November 2023, Celestyal Discovery has undergone significant upgrades. These include updated social spaces, refreshed staterooms, and the addition of Café Nation, a new coffee bar. The ship also now offers complimentary dining options such as the Pizza Oven and the poolside Greek Deli. These improvements were carried out by the design agency AMK.
“We are excited to showcase these upgrades and provide our guests with an enhanced experience,” said Lee Haslett, Chief Commercial Officer of Celestyal. “The addition of new cabin categories and expanded premium options reflects our commitment to evolving the guest experience and offering exceptional value.”
Celestyal Discovery will offer three- and four-night Iconic Greek Islands cruises from March to November, departing Athens and visiting Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Rhodes, and Santorini. Prices for these cruises start at $549 per person for an interior Cosmos cabin, A$1,629 for a Junior Dream Suite, and $2,019 for a Grand Horizon Suite. All prices include meals, soft drinks, Wi-Fi, and gratuities.
