Four Seasons Yachts has named Captain Kate McCue as the inaugural captain of Four Seasons I, the first ultra-luxury yacht in its highly anticipated fleet. With nearly 30 years of maritime experience, Captain McCue is a trailblazer in the industry, known for her technical expertise and passion for hospitality. She made history in 2015 as the first American woman to captain a mega-ton cruise ship.
Rainer Stampfer, President of Global Operations for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, said, “Captain Kate McCue is the perfect leader to helm Four Seasons I. Her dedication to excellence and pioneering spirit align with our vision to redefine luxury yachting. We’re thrilled to welcome her as we prepare to set sail in 2026.”
As captain, McCue will oversee the safe navigation of the yacht and ensure an exceptional onboard experience for guests and crew. With a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, Four Seasons I promises a highly personalized journey. The yacht will sail through the Caribbean and Mediterranean, offering guests a blend of relaxation, adventure, and world-class service.
Captain McCue said, “Yachting captures the essence of the sea—calm, effortless, and rejuvenating. This role is an honor and an opportunity to shape the Four Seasons Yachts experience from the start. I look forward to connecting with guests, leading an exceptional crew, and engaging with local communities. Together, we’ll create unforgettable journeys and set new standards in luxury yachting.”
Before joining Four Seasons, Captain McCue spent nearly a decade with Celebrity Cruises, where she served as Captain of the Celebrity Beyond. She played a key role in increasing female representation on ship bridges to over 30% across the fleet. Her career also includes roles with Royal Caribbean International and Disney Cruise Line, where she gained extensive experience as a cadet, deck officer, and Master Mariner.
