India is gearing up for a major step towards sustainable tourism with the 2nd Tourism Sustainability Summit, scheduled for March 26, 2025, at the Sovereign Hall, Hotel Le-Meridien in New Delhi. Organized by the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), and the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI), the event aims to promote eco-friendly and responsible tourism practices across the country.
Focus on Global and Local Sustainability
Themed “Mainstreaming Sustainability in Tourism,” the summit will address both global trends and local challenges in sustainable tourism. It will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts to develop actionable strategies for India’s tourism sector. Key speakers include Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, India’s Tourism Minister, and Suman Billa, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, highlighting the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
The event will open with a welcome address by FHRAI President K Syama Raju, followed by a theme address by Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, Chair of the India-Nepal Centre at PHDCCI.

Investing in Sustainability – Focusing on green finance, jobs, and government incentives for sustainable tourism.
Innovations and Launches
The event will also feature the launch of “GRT Hotel’s Sustainability Practices” by Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels, showcasing the chain’s successful integration of sustainable practices. An eco-fashion show will highlight innovative designs inspired by responsible tourism.
Senior officials from Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will also participate, underscoring the role of regional governments in promoting sustainable tourism.
