When Angel Jibreel (AS) offered to destroy the city as punishment for its people’s actions, the Prophet (PBUH) chose to pray for their guidance instead. One of the city’s key landmarks is Masjid Abbas, situated near the remains of the ancient Taif wall. It was here that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was injured after inviting Arab chieftains to embrace Islam. Today, the area has transformed into a bustling market filled with walkways, restaurants, and leisure facilities. Visitors can explore traditional Arab culture in a modern setting, celebrating the city’s rich heritage.
Taif is also a vital center for Saudi Arabia’s agricultural industry. A standout attraction is the Al-Quraish Rose Factory, founded by the Quraish tribe. Mohannad Al-Quraishi, the factory’s owner, shared that his father, Rashid Al-Quraishi, began cultivating flowers in 1989 and established the factory in 1996. Initially, the factory used traditional methods to produce rose essence, creating perfumes, creams, and lotions exclusively for the royal family and as state gifts.
As part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, the Saudi Tourism Authority has announced that the factory’s products will now be available for commercial sale. Dr. Imad Kashmiri, a representative of the authority, confirmed that this initiative will be supported with financial and technical assistance, including the construction of a new production facility.
During the winter months, Taif’s charm reaches its peak. Visitors flock to its green mountains, dining spots, coffee shops, and entertainment venues. With its deep historical roots, stunning landscapes, and the fragrant Al-Quraish Rose Factory, Taif remains a must-visit destination for those exploring Saudi Arabia’s cultural and natural wonders.
