At the Walt Disney Company’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, CEO Bob Iger revealed ambitious plans for the company’s global theme park expansions. Iger emphasized that Disney is currently working on more projects worldwide than at any other time in its history.
“Last year, we shared our strategy to accelerate growth through strategic investments. Today, I’m excited to update you on our progress,” Iger said during the meeting. “We have an unprecedented number of projects underway, and they will bring exciting new experiences to our guests.”
Major Theme Park Expansions
One of the most significant updates is the largest-ever expansion of Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The expansion will introduce a new area inspired by the Cars franchise and a highly anticipated land themed around Disney Villains.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Monsters Inc.-themed land is in development. This new area will feature Disney’s first-ever vertical lift coaster, offering a unique thrill for visitors.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom will also see a major addition with the Tropical Americas land. This expansion will include attractions based on the popular Encanto and Indiana Jones franchises.
In California, the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is set to double in size, providing even more opportunities for fans to immerse themselves in the Marvel universe.
Economic Impact and Job Creation
Iger highlighted the positive economic impact these projects will have on local communities. “Guests will love the new offerings, and we’re proud to create thousands of new jobs in Florida and California,” he said.
Disney Cruise Line Expansion
Disney Cruise Line is also expanding, with plans to double its capacity. “This will allow us to reach millions more people around the world,” Iger added.
Investment in Gaming and Entertainment
Beyond the parks, Disney is investing $1.5 billion in Epic Games to create a new gaming and entertainment universe within Fortnite. “This partnership will let consumers experience our beloved IP in innovative ways,” Iger explained.
Commitment to Community Support
Iger also addressed Disney’s efforts to give back to communities. Following the devastating wildfires in Southern California, Disney committed $15 million to recovery efforts.
“Our employees have been incredible,” Iger said. “The Disney VoluntEARS team organized one of the largest disaster relief drives in our company’s history, showing how we can make a difference together.”
Looking Ahead
With these projects and investments, Disney is set to deliver new and exciting experiences for guests while strengthening its global presence. Iger’s announcement underscores the company’s commitment to innovation, community support, and economic growth.
“We’re thrilled about the future and the opportunities ahead,” Iger concluded. “These projects reflect our dedication to creating magical experiences for our guests and making a positive impact in the world.”
