Tourism New Zealand has joined forces with Warner Bros. Pictures, Mojang Studios, and Piki Studios to launch an exciting new Minecraft DLC. This free downloadable content, called the “Aotearoa New Zealand DLC,” lets players explore the country’s breathtaking landscapes and rich Māori culture from the comfort of their screens.
Starting March 19, Minecraft fans can dive into this virtual adventure. The DLC features iconic New Zealand locations like the serene Abel Tasman, the glowing Waitomo Caves, and the geothermal wonders of Rotorua. Players can also visit Kapiti Island, Tekapo, and Doubtful Sound, all recreated in stunning detail.
One of the highlights is the chance to experience Māori traditions. Players can paddle a traditional canoe (waka), listen to the calming sounds of taonga pūoro (Māori instruments), and learn about the region’s unique wildlife.
This collaboration ties in with the upcoming Minecraft Movie, which was filmed in New Zealand. By blending gaming and tourism, the project offers a fresh way to explore the country’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Whether you’re a Minecraft fan or a travel enthusiast, this DLC promises an unforgettable journey through one of the world’s most beautiful destinations—all from your gaming console.
