Ocean Marina Jomtien, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, has been awarded the highly coveted 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation by the Marina Industries Association (MIA).
This global recognition is the highest honor in the marina industry. It is awarded to marinas that provide a comprehensive, unique experience for customers, offering personalized service and top-tier facilities.
Located just 90 minutes south of Bangkok, Ocean Marina Jomtien is the largest marina resort complex in Thailand. Established in 1989, the marina offers safe anchorage for more than 450 boats, with berthing spaces for vessels up to 70 meters. It also provides hardstand storage, a boatyard with two straddle carriers, fuel services, a 5-star hotel, and over 40 boating-related businesses catering to members and the broader boating community in Southeast Thailand.
Suzanne Davies, CEO of MIA, commended the marina for its exceptional service and facilities. “Ocean Marina Jomtien sets the standard for Gold Anchor marinas, with service and amenities that consistently exceed the expectations of tenants and guests,” Davies said. She also highlighted the marina’s boatyard, which serves the recreational boating market in Southeast Asia. “It’s fantastic to see such a high-quality boating precinct,” she added.
The Gold Anchor rating system provides boat owners and marina users with a simple reference tool, similar to hotel star ratings. Marinas are independently assessed against 86 criteria, including management processes, the condition and maintenance of facilities, environmental practices, and available services. An anonymous customer survey is also conducted to ensure the marina meets its promises.
Scott Finsten, Marina Manager, expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “I am incredibly proud of our team for earning the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum standard once again. This achievement reflects our team’s dedication to continuously improving customer service, marina standards, and environmental efforts. We look forward to delivering memorable experiences for our guests for many years to come.”
In addition to the Gold Anchor Platinum recognition, Ocean Marina Jomtien has also become one of the first marinas in Thailand to earn the Superyacht Ready accreditation. This accreditation, available to Global Gold Anchor marinas, certifies that the marina meets the criteria to accommodate superyachts. These include infrastructure suitability, security measures, and service availability.
Davies explained, “Superyacht Ready indicates that the marina can handle superyacht berthing, and the Gold Anchor rating provides insight into the marina’s facilities, service levels, and overall experience. With both the Superyacht Ready accreditation and 5 Gold Anchor Platinum status, Ocean Marina Jomtien is poised to be a top destination for superyacht captains in the region.”
