The Sunshine Coast tourism industry is up and running, ready to welcome holidaymakers with open arms. Accommodation, attractions, restaurants, and tours are now fully operational, returning to business as usual.
Matt Stoeckel, CEO of Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC), shared that the Sunshine Coast Airport is fully functional, with flights arriving from southern states and even internationally from New Zealand. He also highlighted that the region’s famous beaches, including Mooloolaba and Noosa, are open and in great condition.
Holiday Parks have reopened and are welcoming caravan and camping visitors. While the Mooloolaba Triathlon was postponed, it has been rescheduled for the weekend of March 29-30. This weekend also marks the start of the Noosa Festival of Surfing.
Stoeckel emphasized the message to travel professionals in Australia and New Zealand: “We’re open for business and look forward to welcoming their clients to the Sunshine Coast.”
To show potential visitors what the region looks like today, Visit Sunshine Coast launched a new real-time social media campaign. The campaign, using the hashtag #SunshineCoastForReal, is live on their Instagram and Facebook pages.
“The best way to encourage travel is by showing people exactly what the Sunshine Coast looks like right now,” Stoeckel said.
The campaign has already seen impressive results, with 64,000 video views overnight. Stoeckel hopes this will quickly translate into bookings, as many local tourism businesses have faced a quiet week without customers. “It’s critical we get the tourism industry moving again,” he said.
Visit Sunshine Coast is also working closely with trade partners to update key markets and spread the word that the region is ready to welcome visitors once again.
