Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced a major upgrade to its long-haul Economy and Premium Economy Class services. The new initiative, called “SWISS Senses,” aims to elevate the passenger experience with improved dining, enhanced comfort, and a refreshed cabin atmosphere.
Culinary Upgrades with a Swiss Touch
Passengers will now be welcomed with a traditional Swiss “apéro” experience shortly after takeoff. This includes a welcome drink paired with Sbrinz cheese, a nod to Swiss culture. The airline has also revamped its main meal offerings, introducing new dishes and serving the pre-landing meal on trays or in reusable bento boxes.
On select flights, additional snacks will be available between meals, alongside an expanded selection of beverages. Passengers can enjoy new additions like Swiss red wine and classic soft drinks such as Rivella. All Economy Class meals will be served on sleek, reusable black tableware, adding a modern touch to the dining experience.
Enhanced Comfort for a Restful Journey
SWISS is prioritizing passenger comfort with new bedding made entirely from recycled materials. Soft pillows and blankets aim to provide a more restful sleep during flights. Additionally, upgraded headphones will offer better sound quality for enjoying the airline’s inflight entertainment.
A Signature Fragrance Inspired by the Swiss Alps
A standout feature of “SWISS Senses” is the introduction of a signature scent, Alpine Valley. Developed in partnership with Zurich-based Soeder, the fragrance combines larch, citrus, and herbal notes to evoke the essence of the Swiss Alps. The scent will be incorporated into soaps, hand lotions, and facial sprays in the lavatories, adding a sensory touch to the journey.
A Holistic Approach to Long-Haul Travel
Beyond immediate service improvements, SWISS is investing in new seats and cabin interiors across its intercontinental fleet. This comprehensive approach ensures a complete transformation of the long-haul travel experience, appealing to all senses.
A Commitment to Quality and Swiss Hospitality
Heike Birlenbach, SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the significance of the upgrades: “These new product and service highlights will tangibly enhance the air travel experience for our Economy and Premium Economy Class guests. This represents one of the largest service investments in our company’s history, reflecting our dedication to Swissness and attention to detail.”
With “SWISS Senses,” the airline aims to set a new standard for long-haul travel, combining Swiss hospitality with innovative upgrades to create a memorable journey for passengers.
