Belgium-based artificial intelligence (AI) software provider Maya has successfully raised €1 million in funding. The company specializes in developing a white-label AI assistant tailored for travel companies, aiming to enhance customer service and drive sales.
The investment round saw participation from notable investors, including Lighthouse. The funds will be allocated to support Maya’s global expansion and further develop its AI agent solution, which is designed to deliver personalized customer experiences.
Maya’s AI assistant can be customized by travel providers using their own content. Once trained, the AI can interact with customers via chatbots, email, WhatsApp, and other communication platforms. This flexibility allows travel companies to offer tailored recommendations and support to their clients.
Joris Vanherp, CEO and co-founder of Maya, highlighted the limitations of generic AI solutions in the travel industry. “Generic AI applications and chatbots often fail to meet the needs of innovative travel companies due to high error rates and lack of sales impact,” he said. “Maya, as an industry-specific solution, ensures 100% relevant recommendations and reliable answers, delivering a superior user experience and tangible business results.”
Currently, Maya is being utilized by more than 20 companies, including Travelbase, Joker, Noorderhuis, and Frenchly. According to Maya, these businesses have reported a 20% increase in sales and improved efficiency in assisting travelers.
Benjamin Manzi, chief commercial officer and co-founder of Maya, emphasized the growing demand for AI in regions with high hospitality standards. “The Middle East, for example, is heavily investing in AI, and Maya is well-positioned to play a key role in these markets,” he said.
In addition to expanding its global footprint, Maya plans to use the funding to grow its sales and engineering teams, further strengthening its capabilities and market presence.
With its industry-specific approach, Maya aims to revolutionize customer service in the travel sector, offering reliable and personalized solutions that drive both customer satisfaction and business growth.
