Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, has once again earned recognition for its modern and efficient fleet. The airline secured Europe’s Third Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award for 2025, marking its third consecutive win. This achievement highlights airBaltic’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and modern aviation.
The award was presented by ch-aviation, a leading aviation data provider. With an average fleet age of just 4.39 years, airBaltic continues to lead in fleet modernization, positioning itself as one of Europe’s top carriers in terms of efficiency and sustainability.
A Commitment to Modern Aviation
Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, expressed pride in receiving this prestigious award for the third year in a row. He emphasized the airline’s success since it became the global launch operator for the Airbus A220-300 in 2016. This aircraft has played a significant role in airBaltic’s operations, contributing to enhanced passenger comfort and operational efficiency. Gauss also noted the recent addition of the airline’s 50th A220-300, marking an important milestone toward its goal of operating 100 A220-300s by 2030.

AirBaltic’s Journey with the Airbus A220-300
airBaltic has been at the forefront of modernizing its fleet, starting with the launch of the Airbus A220-300 in 2016. Since May 2020, the airline has operated an exclusively single-type fleet of A220-300 aircraft, improving both passenger experience and environmental sustainability.
Looking Ahead
Looking to the future, airBaltic plans to expand its fleet to 100 Airbus A220-300 aircraft by 2030. This goal aligns with the airline’s commitment to sustainability and continued fleet modernization.
