Rail Europe has announced the promotion of Grant Robertson to the position of regional manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Robertson joined Rail Europe in 2023 as a key account manager. Since then, he has played an instrumental role in strengthening partnerships and raising awareness of rail travel across the region. With a broad range of experience in the aviation, car rental, and rail industries, Robertson brings valuable knowledge and leadership to his new role.

Prior to joining Rail Europe, Robertson worked for 12 years with Air New Zealand, holding roles in both London and Los Angeles. There, he led sales teams and managed key distribution channels. In 2012, he shifted to the car rental sector, joining Hertz, where he managed major accounts, including Ryanair, the company’s largest European airline partner at the time. After moving to Sydney in 2016, Robertson continued with Hertz, overseeing North American destinations for global markets.

“The growing focus on sustainable travel will drive more customers towards rail,” Robertson said. “Europe’s extensive rail networks, with a wide range of options from high-speed trains to iconic night trains and services like Eurostar, offer customers an easy and comfortable way to travel between city centers.”

Rail Europe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Florence Pasquier, emphasized the company’s commitment to the region: “Rail Europe has been active in Australia and New Zealand for over 25 years, building strong relationships with travel partners and understanding their needs. With Grant leading this region, we are confident in continuing our growth (+18% YTD), implementing local marketing strategies, educating the travel trade, and forging new partnerships. Our goal is to make rail bookings easier for our distribution partners.”

As regional manager, Robertson will lead a team based across Australia in cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. The team will support agents in selling both point-to-point rail tickets and pass products like the Swiss Travel Pass and Eurail Global Pass.

“I’m excited to lead our team and help agents grow their rail sales,” Robertson said.
