Amadeus River Cruises is set to launch a new hybrid ship in 2026. The Amadeus Aurea, which can carry 158 passengers, will start operating in May 2026 on the Rhine and Danube rivers.
The Aurea will feature a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system that aims to lower carbon dioxide emissions. Its engines will include advanced filters designed to nearly eliminate air pollution. The ship will also be equipped with a heat-recovery system that reuses thermal energy from the generator.
The ship will offer 12 suites and 67 cabins, all with panoramic windows. Guests can enjoy meals at the Amadeus Lounge, Cafe Vienna, and the Panorama Restaurant. For drinks, the Lido Bar, located on the sundeck next to the heated outdoor pool, will be available.
Aurea’s cruise itineraries will range from eight to 15 days. The Classical Rhine cruise will take passengers from Basel to Amsterdam, including stops at Koblenz, one of Germany’s oldest towns, a vineyard visit, and a tour of Amsterdam’s canals. Meanwhile, the Blue Danube cruise will run from Budapest to Nuremberg, offering activities like a food tour, a classical concert, and wine tasting.
