Tirana, Albania – Lagardère Travel Retail has officially launched its duty-free operations at Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza, following the establishment of a strategic partnership with the Kastrati Group in October 2023.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lagardère Travel Retail has secured the exclusive rights to operate duty-free services at Albania’s busiest airport. This move comes amid a period of significant growth for Albania’s tourism industry, which saw its economic contribution double in 2023.
Lagardère’s offerings at the airport will feature a mix of international products alongside those that highlight Albanian culture, aiming to cater to both international travelers and showcase local heritage.
“We are thrilled to bring our global expertise to support Albania’s growth and tourism development,” said Lagardère Travel Retail Chairman and CEO Dag Rasmussen. “This partnership with the Kastrati Group reflects our shared ambition to create exceptional travel retail experiences that combine the best of international and local offerings.”

Following the official handover of operations earlier this month, Lagardère Travel Retail is set to begin refurbishing the airport’s duty-free space in March. This will be part of a broader effort to expand the airport’s retail offerings and prepare for a terminal extension to accommodate the rising number of passengers. Tirana International Airport has recently been recognized for having the highest traffic growth in Europe over the past two years.
The partnership further strengthens Lagardère Travel Retail’s presence in the Balkan region, supporting the continued expansion of the travel retail market in Albania and beyond.
