by Alice

Central Vietnam is poised to strengthen its reputation as a premier golf destination in Asia, with the Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC) clubs eyeing another landmark year following a strong performance in 2024.

“Central Vietnam is emerging as a world-class golf hub, and 2025 offers a fantastic opportunity to cement our global standing,” said Stephen Banks, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co and a spokesperson for VGC’s marketing efforts. “This year, we aim to highlight the region’s unique offerings to new markets and continue our mission to grow the sport in Vietnam.”

The region has become a hotspot for golf enthusiasts, thanks to its collection of world-class courses designed by legendary figures like Sir Nick Faldo (Laguna Golf Lang Co), Luke Donald (Ba Na Hills Golf Club), Colin Montgomerie (Montgomerie Links), Greg Norman, and Robert Trent Jones Jr.

This growing reputation is further supported by a busy 2025 events calendar. Key highlights include the return of the Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) to Danang from April 2 to 4, 2025. All three VGC clubs—Laguna Golf Lang Co, Montgomerie Links, and Ba Na Hills Golf Club—will host pre- and post-event activities for over 50 international delegates.

In April, the Asia Grand Final of the Faldo Series, a prestigious tournament for young golfers, will return to its home at Laguna Golf Lang Co, a course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. Other major events include the Danang Invitational World Golf Championship (June 2–12) and the Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship (September 7–13).

Beyond golf, the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025) will expand to a six-night celebration from May 31 to July 12. Meanwhile, the historic city of Hue will take center stage as the host of Vietnam’s National Tourism Year 2025.

The region’s appeal is further boosted by new air routes connecting Danang International Airport to global destinations. In 2025, Danang will resume direct flights to India’s New Delhi and Mumbai, Japan’s Nagoya and Osaka, and Qatar’s Doha.

“Central Vietnam offers a unique mix of championship golf courses, luxury resorts, and cultural treasures,” said Le Vo Hoang Van, club manager at Montgomerie Links. “The addition of new air routes and high-profile events makes it easier for golfers worldwide to experience this remarkable region.”

Hong Kong Airlines has already announced new flights to Danang starting July 19, 2024. Air Premia, a South Korean budget carrier, will operate four weekly flights from January 23 to March 31, 2025. Other airlines, including AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines, and Citilink, have also added direct flights to Danang from Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.

Danang International Airport expects a surge in flights during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday season, from January 28 to February 5, 2025, further underscoring the region’s growing popularity as a global destination.

With its combination of top-tier golf, cultural attractions, and improved connectivity, Central Vietnam is set to shine on the international stage in 2025.
