Qatar Airways announced on Wednesday a significant expansion of its Americas operations, introducing two new weekly flights to Bogotá, Colombia, and Caracas, Venezuela, starting in early summer 2025. The flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, enhancing connectivity between the Middle East and South America.
The new route will link Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha to Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) before continuing to Caracas’ Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS). Return flights from Caracas will operate nonstop to Doha, offering passengers a more streamlined travel experience.
This expansion positions Qatar Airways as the first and only airline to provide direct flights from the Middle East to Colombia. It also becomes the sole Middle Eastern carrier operating in Venezuela. With the addition of Bogotá and Caracas, Qatar Airways’ Americas network will grow to 16 destinations, including major cities such as Dallas, Miami, New York City, São Paulo, and Toronto.
The airline will utilize Boeing 777-200LR aircraft for the new routes, featuring a two-class configuration with 42 business class and 234 economy class seats.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer emphasized the significance of the expansion, stating, “The launch of flights to Bogotá and Caracas represents a transformative moment for Qatar Airways and for travelers to South America. As the first airline to offer nonstop service from the Middle East to Colombia and the only Middle Eastern carrier flying to Venezuela, we are creating new opportunities to connect people, cultures, and commerce.”
The new flights aim to strengthen ties between the regions, offering passengers enhanced travel options and fostering economic and cultural exchange.
