The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially opened its new Chicago office, a central hub aimed at promoting Thailand as a top travel destination across 16 U.S. states in the South and Midwest, as well as Alaska and Canada.
This marks Thailand’s third tourism-focused office in North America, following established hubs in New York and Los Angeles.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted the importance of the new office, stating, “The TAT Chicago Office will play a key role in increasing the number of travelers from the U.S. and Canada to Thailand, which reached 1.2 million in 2024. This effort supports our national goal of attracting 36 to 39 million international visitors and generating 1.98 to 2.23 trillion Baht in tourism revenue by 2025.”
The Chicago office will focus on creative marketing and communication strategies to showcase Thailand’s unique travel experiences. Its target audience includes potential visitors from U.S. states such as Louisiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Alaska.
The expansion is part of TAT’s broader plan to declare 2025 as the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year. The initiative will feature special events and incentives designed to draw 1.43 million North American travelers to Thailand.
This strategic move underscores Thailand’s commitment to strengthening its position as a leading global tourism destination.
