FITUR Kicks Off Europe’s Travel Show Season with Record Growth

The 45th edition of FITUR, Europe’s premier travel trade show, opened its doors on January 22, marking the start of the annual travel industry calendar. Running until January 26, the event will spotlight Brazil as its partner country, highlighting its vibrant tourism offerings.

Organized by IFEMA Madrid, FITUR 2025 is set to host 9,500 travel and hospitality companies from 156 countries, with 884 exhibitors participating. The event is expected to attract 150,000 industry professionals during the weekdays, followed by an estimated 100,000 travel enthusiasts over the weekend.

This year’s edition underscores a strong recovery from the pandemic, with a 10% increase in overall attendance and a 19% rise in international participation. A total of 101 countries will be officially represented, including 11 new participants primarily from Africa and Asia.

The economic impact of FITUR is projected to reach €445 million for Madrid, benefiting sectors such as transportation, hospitality, gastronomy, culture, and entertainment.

Brazil as Partner Country: Brazil will take center stage, showcasing its diverse tourism destinations and reinforcing its global presence. The country’s participation follows a record-breaking year for international tourism, with 6.6 million foreign visitors in 2024—a 12.6% increase from the previous year, according to Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism and Embratur.

Travel Technology Expansion: The Travel Technology segment has grown by 6%, featuring over 100 companies specializing in cutting-edge tourism booking technologies. This area highlights global trends shaping the future of travel.

FITUR 2025 reflects the industry’s resilience and growth, offering a platform for global collaboration and innovation in tourism. With its expanded international reach and focus on emerging markets, the event continues to solidify its position as a cornerstone of the global travel calendar.
