KUALA LUMPUR, 6 January 2025 – Malaysia has officially launched its Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, setting an ambitious goal to welcome 35.6 million international visitors by 2026. The launch event, held at Hangar 6, MAB Engineering Complex, was officiated by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and featured the unveiling of the campaign’s logo, mascot, theme song, and aircraft livery.
The VM2026 logo will be prominently displayed on aircraft operated by Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, and AirAsia. This marks the first time the campaign’s branding will appear on commercial flights, symbolizing a united effort to position Malaysia as a leading global tourist destination.
The campaign’s theme song, Surreal Experiences, was also debuted at the event. Organizers described the song as a celebration of Malaysia’s unique cultural and natural attractions, designed to capture the attention of international audiences.
In a nod to the country’s rich biodiversity, the Malayan Sun Bear—a native endangered species—was chosen as the official mascot. The animated design of the mascot aims to appeal to all age groups while highlighting Malaysia’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
The government aims to generate RM147.1 billion (US$32.8 billion) in tourism revenue through the campaign. YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, emphasized that VM2026 will not only boost tourism but also drive economic growth in related sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and retail.
To support the campaign, Malaysia has secured partnerships with key industry players, including Malaysia Aviation Group, AirAsia, Mastercard, and Marriott International. Memoranda of Collaboration were signed during the launch, focusing on improving connectivity and enhancing visitor experiences through innovative technologies and promotional efforts.
In the lead-up to VM2026, Malaysia will host the Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2025 on 8 February 2025 at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. The event combines cultural heritage with fitness, aiming to engage both locals and tourists in a celebration of Malaysian traditions.
With these initiatives, Malaysia is poised to strengthen its position as a must-visit destination, offering diverse experiences that cater to travelers from around the world.
