The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) has achieved a significant milestone, securing $49 million in sales leads in 2024 by actively promoting the country’s breathtaking attractions and unique travel experiences at global tourism events.
Philippines Shines on the International Stage
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco led the campaign to elevate the Philippines as a top tourist destination. The country’s natural wonders, cultural heritage, and man-made landmarks were at the heart of the DOT’s global outreach. By showcasing these offerings, the Philippines gained increased attention and interest from international travelers.
The DOT’s participation in prestigious tourism events such as the Arabian Travel Market, ITB Berlin, and the World Travel Market in London played a critical role in boosting the Philippines’ visibility worldwide. In addition, domestic initiatives like the North Luzon Travel Expo, Central Philippines Travel Expo, and Mindanao Tourism Expo helped further strengthen the country’s position as a dynamic and attractive travel hub.
Catering to Diverse Traveler Preferences
The DOT has continued to diversify the Philippines’ tourism offerings, blending well-known attractions with emerging destinations to appeal to a broad range of global travelers. Secretary Frasco emphasized that this inclusive approach ensures that tourists can enjoy a wide variety of enriching experiences while elevating the country’s global reputation as a must-visit destination.
Philippine Experience Program Strengthens Cultural Tourism
A key initiative in 2024 was the Philippine Experience Program (PEP), which spans 11 regions, 31 provinces, 31 cities, and 46 municipalities. PEP aims to share the Philippines’ unique cultural stories and traditions, building stronger connections between visitors and local communities.
To make cultural tourism more accessible, the DOT plans to offer online cultural packages through tour operators. Collaborations with industry groups such as the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS), and Guide to the Philippines will help tailor PEP’s offerings into curated travel experiences for both local and international tourists.
Looking Forward to a Bright Future for Philippine Tourism
The Department of Tourism is focused on innovation and partnership, ensuring that the Philippines remains a top destination for travelers around the world. As the country continues to highlight its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, the DOT is committed to providing diverse and memorable travel experiences for tourists from all corners of the globe.
