IndiGo Airlines has introduced a new direct flight service connecting Kolkata to Phuket, Thailand, marking the first-ever air link between the two locations. The move responds to the growing demand for travel between India and Southeast Asia, offering travelers greater convenience and expanded options.
The inaugural flight was celebrated with a special ceremony at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, where passengers received their boarding passes in the presence of senior officials from both the airport and IndiGo. In a statement shared on the official social media account of Kolkata Airport, the new service was hailed as a significant milestone. “Exciting news for travelers! IndiGo launches its daily flight from #KolkataAirport to the beautiful Phuket, Thailand,” the post read, emphasizing the role of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in supporting the initiative with advanced infrastructure and top-tier safety standards.
The Kolkata-Phuket flights will operate six days a week, departing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Flight 6E 1901 will take off from Kolkata at 6:00 AM IST on Mondays and Tuesdays, landing in Phuket at 10:40 AM local time. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, departures are scheduled for 6:50 AM, with an arrival time of 11:35 AM. On Fridays, the flight will leave at 7:15 AM, arriving at 11:55 AM, and on Sundays, the departure is at 6:50 AM with a 11:40 AM local time arrival.
The launch of this route is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism, enhancing connectivity between India and Southeast Asia. It further reflects IndiGo’s strategic efforts to expand its international network and offer travelers more opportunities to visit sought-after global destinations.
