West Air, a subsidiary of HNA Airlines, will begin operating a new international air route between Lhasa, Chongqing, and Singapore on December 25, 2024. The route will be serviced three times a week by an Airbus A319, aimed at strengthening cultural, economic, and tourism ties between western China and Singapore.
The flight schedule is designed to facilitate convenient connections between the regions. Outbound flights (PN6425) depart from Lhasa on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 17:40, with a stopover in Chongqing, before reaching Singapore at 03:55 the following day. Return flights (PN6426) are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing Singapore at 04:55 and arriving in Lhasa at 15:20, with a layover in Chongqing.
This new service establishes a significant air link between Singapore, a bustling tropical city-state, and Lhasa, the Tibetan capital renowned for its religious heritage and stunning landscapes, including the Potala Palace, the Tanggula Mountains, and Namtso Lake.
Chongqing, a key hub for the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project, strengthens the route’s alignment with Singapore’s strategic interests. The route is seen as a vital “air corridor” that connects western China with the ASEAN region, enhancing economic and cultural exchanges, while contributing to the broader development of a new land-sea trade route.
To support travelers, West Air is introducing several promotions, such as a 10% discount on tickets purchased seven days in advance for small groups, and an additional 20kg baggage allowance for international students and their immediate family members. The airline is also offering a “Baggage Beneficial Offer,” which includes a 30kg baggage limit, and preferential fares for connecting flights with Hainan Airlines and other domestic partners.
This route is poised to be a significant boost for both tourism and business exchanges between Lhasa, Chongqing, and Singapore, marking a new chapter in connectivity between the regions.
