Emirates to End Melbourne-Singapore Route, Launch Direct Melbourne-Dubai Service

by Alice

Emirates has announced the termination of its Melbourne-Singapore flights effective March 30, 2025, citing increased competition on the busy corridor. The airline, which currently operates a combined service between Dubai, Singapore, and Melbourne, will replace this route with an additional direct Melbourne-Dubai flight.

The decision comes as the Singapore-Melbourne route has become heavily saturated, with up to 10 daily flights operated by a range of carriers, including Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Scoot, Jetstar, and Turkish Airlines, which recently added a Singapore stopover on its Melbourne-Istanbul service.

Emirates has assured affected customers that they will be offered alternative travel options or a full refund for their bookings. The airline’s move to enhance its direct Melbourne-Dubai service is part of its strategy to streamline operations and better cater to demand on its core Dubai route.
