A tragic accident at Bali’s Ubud Monkey Forest resulted in the deaths of two tourists on Tuesday, when a large tree branch fell during a powerful storm.
The victims, a French woman and a South Korean woman, were struck by the branch as it crashed to the ground. Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes as tourists fled the area, with video footage capturing the frightening moment when the massive limb fell.
Emergency responders, along with other visitors, rushed to assist the injured, and several people were quickly transported to local hospitals for treatment. Authorities later confirmed that the two victims did not survive the incident.
Local police attribute the accident to extreme weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rainfall that accompanied the storm. Despite the severity of the storm, the management of the Ubud Monkey Forest maintained that the tree involved had been in “healthy condition,” with routine tree maintenance and pruning regularly carried out to ensure visitor safety.
This tragic event has cast a shadow over the popular tourist attraction, known for its vast population of long-tailed macaques and lush jungle surroundings. As investigations continue, authorities have pledged to further review safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
