Vietnam’s tourism sector has experienced remarkable growth in 2024, attracting over 15.8 million international tourists by the end of November, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism. Nearly 80% of these visitors hailed from Asia, with South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan accounting for around 60% of the total.
November marked a standout month, welcoming 1.7 million foreign tourists—a 20.5% increase from October and a striking 38.8% growth compared to the same month in 2023. This surge has placed Vietnam on track to achieve its annual target of 17 to 18 million foreign visitors.
South Korea led all international markets with 4.1 million visitors, followed by China with 3.3 million and Taiwan with 1.1 million. The United States, Japan, and Australia also ranked among the top contributors, while Southeast Asia showed robust performance, with Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore emerging as key markets.
European visitors also contributed significantly to Vietnam’s tourism growth. Countries such as the UK, France, and Italy saw increased numbers, bolstered by a visa exemption policy for their nationals.
The tourism sector generated 57.5 trillion VND (approximately US$2.3 billion) in revenue during the first 11 months of the year, reflecting a 17.3% year-on-year increase. The Ha Long International Cruise Port also saw heightened activity, including the arrival of over 2,800 international passengers aboard the Celebrity Solstice in early December.
With its diverse attractions and strategic policies, Vietnam has solidified its position as a premier destination, with a strong outlook for continued growth in the global tourism market.
