Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS) has been recognized as the Best Cruise Terminal in Asia at the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards, reinforcing its position as a leader in the region’s cruise industry.
Located in the bustling Marina Bay district, MBCCS offers unrivaled convenience, with the city center just a 10-minute drive away. This strategic location ensures easy access to Singapore’s major attractions and transportation hubs, making it a top choice for both international and regional cruise operations.
Since its opening in 2012, MBCCS has seen tremendous growth, evolving to meet the rising demand of the cruise sector. Originally designed to accommodate 6,800 passengers, the terminal now processes over 2 million passengers annually, with a record 300 ship calls in 2023 alone. This remarkable expansion is the result of significant infrastructure enhancements, including the implementation of the New Clearance Concept (NCC), which has streamlined passenger processing from manual to automated systems, dramatically improving efficiency and passenger flow.
Lionel Wong, CEO of Sats-Creuers Cruise Services, explained in an interview with Travel Weekly Asia that the terminal’s growth is driven by ongoing investments in infrastructure and technology. “We are focused on sustainability and delivering a green cruise experience for the future,” Wong said.
MBCCS’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its eco-friendly initiatives. The terminal has earned the prestigious GoldPLUS Green Award under Singapore’s Green Mark Building certification. Efforts such as the installation of Big Ass Fans—designed to reduce reliance on air conditioning and lower carbon emissions—are part of its ongoing green initiatives. The terminal is also exploring renewable energy solutions to further enhance its environmental sustainability.
With its combination of exceptional service, strategic location, and sustainability efforts, Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore continues to set the standard for cruise terminals in Asia.
