The Youth Commission in Guernsey has announced the reintroduction of Bailiwick of Guernsey ID cards, following a brief hiatus. These modernized ID cards are available to the public and are now recognized by local travel companies, allowing holders to travel between the Channel Islands and to certain areas within the UK.
For those under the age of 18, the card is priced at £10, while those over 18 can purchase it for £15.
Application Process: The application process mirrors the vetting procedures for a driving license. Individuals interested in obtaining an ID card should consult the Youth Commission for guidance on the requirements.
Use and Recognition: While the card is not officially recognized as a primary proof of identity or age, it is accepted by various organizations across the island for these purposes.
Validity: The old-style cards remain valid until their expiration date, so no immediate changes are required for holders of the previous version.
The Youth Commission emphasized that these cards are highly sought after and commonly used by residents.
