The holiday travel rush at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) created significant traffic congestion on Sunday night as the Thanksgiving weekend came to a close. According to airport officials, traffic around the airport was unusually heavy, leading to delays for many travelers trying to get to their flights.
DFW Airport officials reported that police were on hand to direct traffic, and they urged passengers to allow extra time when heading to the airport. Due to the volume of vehicles, airport authorities also reminded drivers not to park at the terminal curbside, as this was contributing to the gridlock.
In a social media update, DFW Airport advised travelers to stay patient and to plan for longer-than-usual wait times to reach the terminals. “Extremely heavy vehicle traffic continues at the airport tonight,” the statement read, emphasizing that police resources were present to manage the situation safely.
As the busy holiday season continues, travelers are being reminded to stay updated on airport conditions and adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.
