As a premier event in the global tourism industry, WTM offers Mexico a vital platform to showcase its vibrant culture and diverse destinations while forging important connections with international tourism professionals.
Joined by Mexico’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Josefa González Blanco Ortiz Mena, Minister Rodríguez Zamora has outlined an ambitious agenda that includes strategic meetings with travel agents, airline executives, and leaders in global tourism. During the inauguration of the Mexico Pavilion, she emphasized the significance of promoting Mexico’s tourism assets on a worldwide scale, aiming to boost tourist arrivals, generate economic benefits, and create jobs across the nation.
In a prominent meeting with Sebastian Ebel, CFO of the TUI Group, Minister Rodríguez Zamora reaffirmed TUI’s substantial investments in Mexican tourism, which encompass resorts and cruise ship operations in popular destinations such as Riviera Maya, Cozumel, and Puerto Vallarta. She also announced a new partnership with the TUI Care Foundation aimed at enhancing the port infrastructure of Acapulco, thereby increasing its appeal as a cruise destination.
Rodríguez Zamora engaged with British Airways executives to discuss the expansion of flight routes from Europe to key Mexican destinations, including Quintana Roo and the Pacific Coast. Similarly, discussions with Aeromexico focused on enhancing Mexico’s international connectivity, particularly in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup.
Her agenda further includes talks with Lufthansa representatives to explore new flight connections to improve mobility for European travelers. Additionally, she met with Enrique Ybarra, CEO of City Sightseeing Worldwide, to discuss collaborative opportunities and best practices within the tourism sector.
At the upcoming Tourism Ministers’ Summit, co-hosted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Minister Rodríguez Zamora will join global leaders to examine the role of artificial intelligence in tourism, highlighting how technology can enhance visitor experiences and improve operational efficiency.
Mexico’s presence at WTM will continue at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest travel fair, where Rodríguez Zamora will meet with key representatives from various destinations, airlines, hotels, and technology companies. She is also scheduled to meet with WTTC President and CEO Julia Simpson to enhance Mexico’s visibility and appeal among the council’s international members.
To strengthen tourism ties with Latin America and Europe, Rodríguez Zamora will engage with Verónica Pardo Lagos, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Chile, and Pedro Machado, Secretary of State for Tourism of Portugal, to explore cooperative opportunities and establish the groundwork for bilateral tourism projects.
Through these strategic partnerships, Mexico’s Minister of Tourism is not only solidifying the country’s position on the global tourism map but also fostering international collaborations that promote sustainable growth, ensuring that Mexico remains a leading destination in the global tourism landscape.
